Our family is mentioned in a number of different Genealogy books over the years. We thought it might be helpful to compile a list of them, and include them here to the extent a PDF is available. We also have a number of first editions at HamDun Lodge to the extent you would like to see any of them in person.
And we are always looking for reference materials which might shed some light on our family’s origins and travels. If you know of any works not captured here, please let us know.
Historical Sketches of Blue Hill

This is considered the definitive work compiling details on the first settlers of Blue Hill and the generations that followed. You’ll find our James Carter, Sukey Carter’s Grandfather, is not listed as one of the original settlers but appears shortly thereafter in 1770 or 1771. He was the original settler on Long Island as well.
A Geography and History of Digby, Nova Scotia

This features our earliest siting of Thomas Hamilton in Digby, Nova Scotia. His Grandson immigrated to Blue Hill where his son, Thomas Hamilton, helped launch the Tribe of Tom.
Genealogical and Personal Memoirs Relating to the Families of the State of Massachusetts

This lists the Hamilton Family right down to Charlotte, Catherine, Donald and Richard. But it should be pointed out that it contains and error. See if you can find it!

WM Lapham and Silas Maxim
The Dunham portion of our family were longstanding and prominent members of the Paris community and are featured throughout this expansive reference book. The relevant branch for us is covered in detail starting on page 587 with Asa Dunham, then Sylvanus, then Samuel who was the father of our own Fannie Dunham.

Dunham Genealogy
Isaac Watson Dunham
This is a bit of a complicated work. It’s the most comprehensive genealogical compilation of the Dunham Family, but is not accepted as a resource by most professional genealogical associations (including the John Dunham Society, which refers to it as “an early reference to be used with scrutiny”). While our branch of the Dunham looks generally accurate to me (other than Fannie’s birthdate), a number of errors have emerged over the years.
